September's Birth Flower - The Aster

September is a much loved month by Australians for so many reasons. It marks the beginning of Spring, and symbolises hope for brighter days (we could all use some more of those during this time).

For the September borns, it’s their time of year to celebrate, we hear you Virgos! The September birth flower is the Aster flower, a composite flower from the Daisy family. Considered the ‘star’ of the show, much like the September born counterparts, the Aster flower was named after the Greek word for ‘star’ because of their shape. They are also related to the Greek Titan goddess of falling stars; Asteria. According to legend, the Aster flower came from Asteria’s tears as she began to cry when the stars in the dark sky were too few.

Aster flowers are beautiful, dainty blooms that come in many colours, but mainly pink, white and lilac. They are well known for representing love, wisdom, faith and innocence. Aster’s mark a powerful love and positivity with an undying devotion.

Immortalised by Paige Tuzee in our Birth Flower Pendants and Prints, they are the perfect reminder to yourself of the deep and loving individual that you are.

When gifted to others, they symbolise bravery, patience and good luck wishes (we all need some of these right now)

Equally, sending an Aster to somebody can represent a new beginning, making it an ideal flower to gift for a celebration of a new chapter.

Flowers have always been a gentle substitute for words, conveying emotions, thoughts, and moods with floral beauty, so maybe it’s time to spoil yourself or someone you love with a special flower that lasts a lifetime.
